After being hired to produce and voice direct the Simpsons shorts on The Tracy Ullman Show, Paul worked with one of the animation studios that worked on the shorts, Klasky-Csupo Studios, owned by Arlene Klasky and Gabor Csupo. Despite not knowing how to draw, Paul helped co-create Rugrats with the duo. There, he became friends with one of the writers, Joe Ansolabehere. In 1997, Paul and Joe created Recess, which quickly became one of ABC's most popular Saturday morning cartoons, eventually leading up to the movie Recess: Schools Out.[2] In between 2008 and 2010, Paul Germain and Joe Ansolabehere teamed up with Wendy Moss Klein and Nancy Steingard to create a reboot of Pound Puppies for a new television network, the Hub. Paul Germain was also formerly a voice director on the show. After the first season, Paul and Joe left the show.
